Osun Government Establishes N500m Endowment Fund for Election Victims

The Osun State Government has established a N500 million endowment fund in honour of persons killed, injured, or who lost property during the events surrounding the Osun State governorship election.

The initiative was announced as part of measures aimed at supporting victims and their families and addressing the consequences of the violence and destruction recorded during the electoral period.

In a related gesture, the Adeleke family has offered full scholarships to the children of those who lost their lives, covering their education up to the university level.

Governor Ademola Adeleke said the support would be provided without discrimination, stressing that families of victims would not be treated differently because of their political affiliations.

The governor maintained that every affected family deserves equal consideration and support, regardless of the political party they supported during the election.

To ensure transparency and fairness in the distribution of the support, a verification committee has been constituted to identify eligible victims and beneficiaries.

The committee will be headed by the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun.

The establishment of the endowment fund and the scholarship programme is expected to provide financial and educational support to families affected by the events surrounding the election, while reinforcing the state government’s commitment to reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
