Recover Our Stolen Market Lands: Ngurunweke Stakeholders Urge Barr. Alaribe as LGA Moves to Rebuild Market

In an effort to boost economic growth and revitalize local commerce, the Executive Chairman of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, Barr. Alaribe, held a high-level strategic meeting today with key stakeholders from the six villages of Ngurunweke Ward.
The meeting, which placed significant emphasis on community-supported infrastructure development, aimed to foster a strong partnership for the redevelopment of the historic Old and New Ngurunweke Markets.
Addressing the stakeholders, Barr. Alaribe emphasized that the local government is committed to building modern lock-up shops and transforming the market into a thriving commercial hub. He explained that the project would be carried out in partnership with local investors and strongly urged active community involvement, assuring stakeholders that the community would benefit greatly in the long run.
Reacting to the Chairman’s remarks, community leaders expressed unanimous support for the initiative and praised the administration’s proactive leadership.
Chief Charles Ogu commended Barr. Alaribe for his innovative approach to market development across Aboh Mbaise. Comparing it to previous successful projects, Chief Ogu said that the strategies and dedication applied in developing Enyiogugu Market should also be adopted in Ngurunweke to ensure the project’s success.
Likewise, Nze Bon Erege stated that the community warmly welcomes government-driven development efforts. He expressed the community’s collective desire to restore Eke Nguru Market to its former glory. Nze Erege also called on the Executive Chairman to take decisive steps to reclaim market lands that have been illegally encroached upon or taken over the years.
The influential meeting witnessed strong participation from all sectors of the community. Attendees included representatives and community leaders from the six constituent villages of Eziala, Umuamadi, Amaohuru, Egberede, Okwu, and Ezuhu. Also present were the President-Generals of Amaohuru, Ngurunweke, and Umunneato Autonomous Communities.
