Trump Fears Impeachment If Republicans Lose Congress in Midterm Elections

US President Donald Trump has warned his supporters that he could face impeachment if Republicans lose control of Congress in the November 2026 midterm elections.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Trump urged Republican voters to turn out in large numbers, warning that a Democratic takeover of Congress could put his administration and its policies at risk.

“I’m going to be impeached. They’re going to impeach me. They have no idea why,” Trump told supporters.

Trump said a Democratic victory could threaten his administration’s agenda, particularly his policies on immigration and taxation.

“If we lose, you’re going to lose your border, you’re going to lose your tax cuts, you’re going to lose everything that we’ve done,” he said.

The US president also warned that taxes could rise, wages could fall and businesses could leave the country if Democrats take control of Congress.

Trump urged his supporters to approach the midterm elections as though he were personally on the ballot, stressing the importance of maintaining Republican control.

“What I really want you to do is pretend, please, that I’m on the ballot. Just come and vote,” Trump said.

Trump is the only US president to have been impeached twice. He was acquitted by the Senate on both occasions and remained in office.

His latest comments come as Republicans and Democrats prepare for the November midterm elections, where control of both chambers of Congress will be a major focus.

Trump was campaigning in South Carolina for Darline Graham, who was appointed to the Senate in July following the death of her brother, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.

The president’s remarks highlight the growing importance of the midterm elections to his political agenda, with Trump seeking to keep Republican voters motivated and maintain his party’s influence in Congress.
