BREAKING: APGA Sweeps Anambra LG Election, Wins All 21 Chairmanship Seats
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has recorded a sweeping victory in the Anambra State Local Government elections, winning all 21 chairmanship positions declared by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).
The election was held across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state on Saturday, August 29, 2026, with voters turning out to elect chairmen and councillors for the grassroots councils.
According to the results announced by ANSIEC, APGA secured victory in all 21 chairmanship contests, giving the party control of every local government council in the state.
The party also dominated the councillorship elections, winning the overwhelming majority of the available seats.
The outcome further reinforces APGA’s political dominance in Anambra, where the party has maintained a strong grassroots presence.
